The members of the OCA Ventures team have a passion for building early-stage companies into market leaders, have long histories working with one another, and share common core personal and professional beliefs, while at the same time contributing different skills and perspectives.
This cohesive group has close business and personal relationships dating back more than 25 years. John Dugan, Peter Ianello and Marc Berman were partners in the 1980s when they led O’Connor & Associates. Jim Dugan is John Dugan’s third son, Jason Heltzer joined the team in 2001, Joe Dwyer joined in 2009, David Zyer joined in 2009 and Gabe Greenbaum joined in 2011.
Martin M. O’Connor -
Martin is currently an independent trader and investor. Previously, he
served on the Board of Managers for O’Connor and Company, a commodity
FCM and securities Broker Dealer catering to professional traders. As
an investor, he often takes an active role in the management of
organizations with which he is involved. Prior to trading his own
personal account, Martin worked for O'Connor & Company in various
roles serving the needs of both clients and the firm. Martin received a
B.A. in History from DePaul University and his M.M. from Northwestern
University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Presently, he
sits on DePaul University's Liberal Arts Advisory Council, and is a
Member of the Advisory Board for Alpha Nova, in addition to actively
participating in a number of local community-based organizations.
